어떤 것을 원형이나 전체적으로 둘러싸거나 감싸는 것.

‘encircles’는 ‘surround’보다 더 격식 있고, 주로 장소나 사물, 과학적·문학적 상황에서 사용된다. 사람보다는 사물이나 위치에 쓴다.
