スポーツで、ダウンフィールドは自分のゴールから離れて相手ゴールの方向へ動くこと、または長い距離で行われるプレーやパスを指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にスポーツ中継や解説で使われます。「ダウンフィールドに投げる」「ダウンフィールドに走る」など攻撃的で長距離のプレーを表します。日常会話では使いません。
