主に大学や学校の学生が共同で住み、寝泊まりする建物や部屋のことです。他の共同住宅にも使われます。

日本では大学の学生のための寮が一般的。「ドミトリー」も使われますが、学生以外のシェアハウスにも使われることがあります。
