特別な方法や道具を使って、隠れた知識を探したり未来を予知したりする行為。地下水や鉱物を見つけるために使われる場合もある。

主に歴史的・神秘的な文脈で使われます。'divining rod'は水脈探しの棒として有名です。日常会話ではあまり使いません。
