يُستخدم لوصف شيء يختلف الناس عليه أو ليسوا متفقين بشأنه، مثل حقيقة أو منطقة أو قرار.

"disputed" مصطلح رسمي، يُستخدم غالباً في الحديث عن أراضٍ أو حقائق أو قرارات (مثل "disputed territory"). يدل على استمرار الخلاف. لا تخلطه مع "controversial"، والذي يشير إلى جدل علني ونقاش واسع.
