職場や組織で人の地位や役職を下げ、より重要度の低い仕事やポジションにすること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
主にビジネスやフォーマルな場面で使う言葉。「demoting an employee」「demoting someone to...」などの表現が多い。反対語は「promoting」。スポーツやスキルの話でも比喩的に使うことがある。カジュアルな会話ではあまり使わない。
