Definition

減点とは、主に学校や組織でミスや悪い行いに対して与えられるマイナスの点数のことです。また、物事の欠点や不利益も指します。

学校や軍隊などで悪い行いに対し「減点される」場合によく使います。「the demerits of～」で欠点や短所の意味にもなります。「merit」とは反対の意味です。

He received two demerits for not doing his homework.
