কিছু জৈব পদার্থ, যেমন গাছপালা, প্রাণী বা খাবার, ব্যাকটেরিয়া বা প্রাকৃতিক প্রক্রিয়ার কারণে সহজ অংশে ভেঙে যাচ্ছে।

বৈজ্ঞানিক বা পরিবেশ বিষয়ক আলোচনায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণত 'decomposing body', 'decomposing leaves', 'decomposing food' ইত্যাদি রূপে দেখা যায়।
