同胞は、同じ国の出身者を指します。また、田舎に住む人という意味もありますが、主に文学や歴史的な文脈で使われます。

同胞は海外で同じ国の人を指す際によく使います。“countryman”を都会の人には使いません。田舎の人という意味は主に文学などで出てきます。
