Definition

誰かや動物を狭い場所に閉じ込めて、自由に動けなくすること。一時的な状況によく使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に人や動物について使われ、『cooped up』という受け身形が多いです。長時間家の中にいるなど閉塞感を表します。「鶏小屋(coop)」とは混同しないこと。恒久的な監禁には使わない表現です。
