病気や手術などの後、体力を回復するために安静にしていること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

重い病気や手術後の回復期に使います。口語よりも医療・書き言葉でよく用いられます。「自宅で療養中」「手術後療養している」のように使います。軽い風邪などには使いません。
