困難な状況で知恵や工夫を使って何かを作り出す、計画する、または成し遂げること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
日常会話よりは、ややフォーマルまたは文学的で、工夫や無理やり感（作為的）を含むことが多い。「contrived excuse」は不自然な言い訳の意味。
