정해진 규칙, 기준, 기대에 맞게 행동하거나 생각하는 것. 법이나 사회 규범을 지킬 때 주로 사용됨.

주로 공식적, 형식적 상황에서 사용되며 'rules', 'standards', 'norms', 'expectations' 등과 같이 쓰인다. 단순히 동의한다는 뜻이 아니라 실제로 행동으로 지킨다는 의미.
