누군가 슬프거나 문제가 있을 때 동정하거나 위로의 뜻을 표현하는 것; 상대방의 실망이나 슬픔을 이해하고 공감하는 것.
Usage Notes (Korean)
형식적, 문어적 표현으로 주로 'commiserate with someone'과 같이 사용. 큰 비극보다는 일상 속의 실망이나 걱정에 더 적합함. 'console(위로하다)'와는 정도가 다름.
