Komutan, bir askeri birimin, operasyonun veya bir grubun başında olan ve emir veren kişidir. Genellikle askeri bağlamda kullanılır.

En çok askeri terim olarak geçer: 'deniz komutanı', 'saha komutanı'. Sıradan yönetici veya müdürler için kullanılmaz.
