'감방 동기'는 sadece hapiste aynı hücreyi paylaşanlar için kullanılır, 'oda arkadaşı' veya 'sınıf arkadaşı' anlamı yoktur. Bazen hikayelerde ya da filmlerde mecazi olarak da kullanılır.
