'Carte' रेस्तरां के पुराने ज़माने के मेनू के लिए इस्तेमाल होता था, खासकर 'à la carte' वाक्यांश में। इसका मतलब कार्ड या सूची भी हो सकता है, लेकिन आज के अंग्रेज़ी में यह शब्द अकेले शायद ही कभी प्रयोग होता है।

'Carte' अंग्रेज़ी में सिर्फ़ 'à la carte' जैसी स्थायी अभिव्यक्तियों में ही मिलता है, सामान्य बातचीत में नहीं। आजकल 'menu' ही बोला जाता है। 'À la carte' का मतलब होता है – हर डिश अलग-अलग ऑर्डर करना। अकेले 'carte' का प्रयोग न करें।
