本や雑誌を置くための家具や壁に付いた棚のこと。複数の棚を指します。

“bookshelves”は複数の棚に対して使います。家具として独立しているものや壁付きの棚にも使われます。「bookcase」は扉付きの本棚を指すので、区別します。
