不注意や知識不足による目立つ失敗や恥ずかしいミス。重大な結果を招くことが多い。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に重大で恥ずかしいミスに使います。小さなミスには適しません。「make blunders」「embarrassing blunders」などとセットで使われます。フォーマルな場面でも使われます。
