授ける贈る

Definition

名誉や贈り物として正式に何かを与えることを意味します。よく式典や重要な場面で使われます。

日常会話ではあまり使わず、表彰や重要な贈り物などフォーマルな場面で使われる語です。「bestow an award」は「賞を授ける」となります。

The king bestows honors on brave soldiers.

王は勇敢な兵士たちに栄誉を**授ける**。

The university bestows degrees on its graduates each year.
