Definition
手や頭などで合図して誰かを近くに呼んだり、ついてくるよう促すこと。比喩的に何かが人を惹きつける意味もある。

主に静かに呼ぶジェスチャーに使われます。物語や文学的な表現でよく出てきます。例文のような「She beckoned to him」の使い方が一般的です。比喩的にも使えます。
