'Beat up' é informal e indica violência física, geralmente usado em 'beat someone up'. Como adjetivo ('beat-up'), descreve algo antigo ou estragado. Não use para contato físico leve. Não confunda com 'beat' (vencer) ou 'make up' (fazer as pazes).
