Bir arabanın arka koltuğu, genellikle yolcular burada oturur. 'Backseat', bir grupta veya etkinlikte daha az önemli veya ikincil bir konumu da ifade edebilir.

Genellikle isim olarak kullanılır: 'backseat driver', yani yetkisi olmadan karışan biri. 'Take a backseat' deyimi, ikinci planda kalmak anlamında kullanılır. Daha çok samimi ortamlarda geçer.
