何かを事実として自信を持って、または正式に述べること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

硬い表現で、主に法律や学術、文学で使われます。日常会話ではほとんど使いません。「aver that...」や「証人が aver した」などの形で使われます。

Examples

He averred that he was innocent.

彼は自分は無実だと**断言した**。

The witness averred that she saw the man.

証人はその男を見たと**断言した**。

She avers the idea is true.
