相手をとても驚かせたり、びっくりさせたりすること。普通の驚きよりも遥かに強い感情。

「仰天させる」はフォーマルや文語的。ちょっとした驚きでなく、大きな衝撃や感動を表す。受け身（～に仰天した）で使うことが多い。
