'Alternatively' ফরমাল লেখালেখি বা বক্তৃতায়, বিশেষত দুটি বা তার বেশি অপশন দেবার সময় বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। দৈনন্দিন কথায় এর বদলে 'or' ব্যবহার হতেই বেশি দেখা যায়।
