ほのめかしとは、有名な物語や人物、出来事などについて、直接言及せずに間接的に示すことです。

主に文学作品や公式な文章、スピーチなどで使われます。「illusion（幻想）」とは意味が違うので注意。ほのめかしを理解するにはある程度の予備知識が必要です。
