কাউকে বা কিছুকে বিশেষ করে অসুখ, দুঃখ বা সমস্যার কারণে খুব কষ্ট বা যন্ত্রণা দেওয়া হয়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

‘afflict’ সাধারণত রোগ, দারিদ্র্য বা বড় কষ্ট বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। দৈনন্দিন কথায় কম ব্যবহৃত; লেখালেখি বা আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাষায় বেশি। ছোটখাটো সমস্যার জন্য ব্যবহার হয় না।
