要請や提案などに、説得の末正式に同意すること。または、高い地位・役職に就くこと。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマルな場面や公式文書などで使われる。'accede to demands'（要求に同意する）、'accede to the throne'（即位する）などの形で用いる。日常会話での単純な同意には使わない。

Examples

After a long discussion, they acceded to our request.

長い話し合いの末、彼らは私たちの要請に**同意した**。
