地面の上、または地表で起こること。地下ではない場所や構造物、活動を指す言葉です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に技術や建築、科学の分野で『underground』との違いを示すときに使います。日常会話ではあまり使われません。『aboveground pool』のような使い方をします。
