年齢がまだ低い、または成長して間もないこと。人や動物、物がまだ古くない状態を表す。

主に人や動物に対して使われる形容詞（例: 'young child', 'young dog'）。'old'の反対語。経験や新しさを表す時にも使う（例: 'young artist', 'young leaves'）。名詞の『youth』とは意味が異なるので注意。
