あそこ向こう

Definition

遠くにある目に見える場所や物を指す時に使う言葉。主に古典文学や詩で使われる表現。

とても古い表現で、現代の会話ではほとんど使いません。文学や詩、方言でよく見られます。'over yonder'や'from yonder'にも注意。

Look at that house yonder on the hill.

丘の上の**あそこ**にある家を見てごらん。

The river flows yonder, behind the trees.

川は木々の後ろの**あそこ**を流れている。

We will meet yonder, at sunset.
