Definition

年とは、地球が太陽の周りを一周するのにかかる365日（うるう年は366日）の期間を指します。暦で時間を数える単位として使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「年」は複数形でも単数形と同じで、年齢・期間・歴史的時代などを表すとき使います。年齢には「〜歳」と言いますが、「years old」の直訳はしません。

We have lived here for many years.

The building is over 100 years old.
