"witnesses" in Portuguese (BR)
Definition
Pessoas que veem um acontecimento, especialmente um crime ou acidente, e podem descrevê-lo. Também pode se referir a pessoas que prestam depoimento no tribunal porque viram, sabem ou podem confirmar algo.

É muito usado em contextos jurídicos ou jornalísticos. 'Witnesses' pode se referir a pessoas que estavam no local ('Several witnesses saw the crash') ou a pessoas que depõem no tribunal ('The witnesses were called to testify'). Não confunda com o verbo 'witness', que significa ver ou presenciar.
