Definition

口笛やホイッスルは、唇や小さな笛で空気を吹いて出す高い音です。また、その音を鳴らす行為も指します。

名詞と動詞の両方で使います。'whistle for a taxi' や 'whistle at someone' のような使い方があり、人に向かって口笛を鳴らすのは失礼になることがあります。 'whisper'（ささやく）と混同しないように注意しましょう。

The boy can whistle very loudly.
