Definition

التحدث بصوت منخفض جدًا، بحيث يسمعه عادةً فقط من يكون قريبًا. يُستعمل غالبًا للأسرار أو للخصوصية أو لتجنّب إزعاج الآخرين.

Usage Notes (Arabic)

تصف عادةً فعل التحدث بصوت خافت، وليس مجرد انخفاض الصوت فقط. من التركيبات الشائعة 'start whispering' و 'keep whispering' و 'whisper in someone's ear'. يخلط بعض المتعلمين بينها وبين 'murmuring'؛ فـ 'whispering' أخفض صوتًا وأكثر ارتباطًا بالسرية.
