깊이 생각하지 않고 갑자기 떠오르는, 예측할 수 없는 욕구나 생각.

예측할 수 없거나 충동적인 욕구를 표현할 때 많이 쓰이고, 'on a whim', 'at the whim of' 같은 영어 표현들과 함께 씀. 신중한 결정에는 사용하지 않음.

He always follows his whims and changes his mind a lot.

그는 항상 자신의 **변덕**을 따르고 자주 마음이 바뀐다.
