誰かや何かの正確な居場所がわからない時に、その位置について指します。人を探している時によく使われます。

通常は「彼の居場所」や「猫の居場所」など、所有を表す言葉と一緒に使われます。ややフォーマルな表現です。警察やニュース、日常会話でも見られます。
