Definition

古い文語や詩で使われる「どこから」や「いずこより」という意味の語です。日常会話では使われません。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

文語的、詩語的な場面以外では使いません。「どこ（where）」ではなく「どこから（from where）」を表す際に使われます。「from whence～」の形でも見られます。
