어떤 것이 전혀 없거나, 전혀 일어나지 않았음을 강조할 때 사용한다. 주로 부정문에서 쓰인다.

'whatsoever'는 대개 부정문이나 질문에서 강조 용도로만 사용한다. 평서문에서는 쓰지 않는 공식적인 표현이다.
