国の海軍が戦争や海上の利益を守るために使用する、大型で重武装された船です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「軍艦」は主に軍事目的に使用され、旅客船や貨物船とは異なります。「艦隊」や「軍艦を派遣する」などの表現で使われます。「戦艦」（battleship）とは区別します。
