保証とは、メーカーや販売者が一定期間内に製品が故障した場合、修理や交換を約束する書面です。

主に家電製品や車などの購入時に使われます。'limited warranty'（限定保証）、'lifetime warranty'（生涯保証）、'void the warranty'（保証失効）などの表現に注意。日常会話では'guarantee'と同じ意味で使われることもありますが、厳密には異なります。
