指随手、漫不经心地把某物放在某处，好像并不在意。英式英语里，它也可以表示若无其事、慢悠悠地走进或离开某个地方。

主要见于英式英语，语气较口语化。常见搭配有 'walt something down/on/in'，说话人通常带有不满，觉得这个动作很随便、很敷衍。不要和名词 'waltz'（华尔兹）混淆。
