Definition

「wakes」は、誰かが眠りから覚めて意識を取り戻すことを表します。また、船などが水面に波や跡を作る場合にも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

通常は「wake up」として日常会話で使われます。単独の「wake」よりも「wakes up」が一般的です。「wake」は船が立てる波に対しても使いますが、あまり日常では使いません。「葬儀式」の意味とは異なります。
