ある出来事や時刻まで行動せず、その場に留まること。または遅らせること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

多くの場合「for」や「until」などの前置詞と一緒に使われます。「waiting room（待合室）」「waiting time（待ち時間）」「waiting list（順番待ちリスト）」などの表現でよく見られます。実際に待つ場合と、決断や行動を遅らせる場合の両方に使います。
