是“wait”的过去式。表示待在某处，或暂不行动，直到某人到来、某事发生或一切准备好。

Usage Notes (Chinese (Simplified))

通常在人或事物前面要用 'for'：'waited for the bus'。'waited to + 动词' 表示把某个动作推迟到之后再做，如 'waited to eat'。标准英语里不说 'waited someone'。
