Definition

敬意を表して頭を下げたり、帽子を取ったりすること。現代ではほとんど使われず、古い文学や詩で見られます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

ほぼ使われない古語です。「vail your hat」や「vail your head」などの表現で見かけます。「veil」（覆い隠す）とは異なることに注意してください。
