Definition

主に書き言葉や形式的な場面で使われる前置詞で、「〜の上に」や「〜するとすぐに」という意味があります。日常会話ではあまり使われません。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に物語や公式な通知、契約書などで使われます。日常会話では使われず、'once upon a time'や'upon arrival'など決まり文句が多いです。多くの場合'on'や'after'で置き換え可能ですが、'upon'の方が格式ばった印象を与えます。
