"understanding" in Japanese
Definition
物事の仕組みや意味を分かっている能力。また、人の気持ちへの思いやりや、暗黙の合意を指すこともあります。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
「have an understanding of」はよく理解していること、「show understanding」は思いやりを示すこと、「come to an understanding」は暗黙の合意に達すること。「understanding」は「knowledge」より幅広く、「agreement」より温かみがある場面で使われます。
