最常見於 'undercover police officer'、'undercover agent' 和 'undercover operation' 這類搭配。它可作形容詞，也可作副詞：'an undercover cop' / 'work undercover'。不要在所有情況下都把它等同於 'secret'；'undercover' 通常強調隱瞞身分、假扮成別人。
